Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a natural and safe healing method which works with the bio-energy field of the body, to re-align, balance, and restore health. Reiki originates in Japan and is practiced today throughout the world. It is highly effective in achieving physical relaxation and calmness and clarity of mind, both of which have direct influence on the body’s bio-mechanism to restore health. Reiki sessions can promote health on all levels, physical mental and emotional, and are also used in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic modalities to relieve side effects and promote recovery. In Reiki sessions, practitioners act as conduits for energy to flow through the palms of their hands to another person’s body. Scientists have long established that everything in the universe – and the world – is made of energy. Our physical body, too, consists of organs→ which are made up of cells, → which are built of molecules, →which are made up of atoms, →which are regulated by particles of energy. These particles are the ‘working’ or ‘moving’ force of the whole human bio-mechanism. This energy, which regulates both our physical and psychological functions, has a significant role in keeping us healthy. Due to various reasons, such as traumas, imbalanced life-styles or injuries, the natural flow and function of this regulatory system may become imbalanced or experience blockages or decreased energy flow. This, in turn, has a ‘ripple-effect’ impact on our health at any or all levels, including the function of specific organs, our emotional well-being, or our mental state. By re-balancing the natural energy flow which permeates at the core of our system, Reiki restores heath on all levels –the physical, emotional, mental, and even spiritual levels. Benefits of Reiki sessions The Reiki energy is both powerful and nourishing and can work effectively with a variety conditions. How a Reiki treatment is performed During the treatment, you will lie down on a treatment bed or sit in a chair, whichever is more comfortable for you. You will stay fully clothed except for your shoes. Your Reiki practitioner will stand beside the bed and, following various hand positions, will channel the Reiki energy through the palms of the hands into your body while covering all treated areas from head to toe. In Reiki therapy, body parts are never manipulated. Reiki is not a massage. Instead, the practitioner’s hands are placed on the area being treated for as long as needed, without moving them, to allow the therapeutic energy of the Reiki to flow. Private areas such as the genitals and women’s breasts are never touched, and the energy to those parts is channeled from a distance of about 4-6” (about 15 cm). Besides channeling the Reiki energy directly to your body, it may be channeled to your auric field – the energy field that surrounds your body. At the end of the treatment we may discuss the treatment if need be and you can ask any questions that you may have. What people feel during a session Typically, on a physical level, people feel the Reiki energy as waves of warmth on the body parts that are being touched, although sometimes they may feel cold or tingling sensations. After some time of the energy being channeled into their body, people pften feel their whole body being pleasantly warm and they go into a deep state of relaxation. Some may fall asleep. It is also common for people to have insights into their certain life-situations during or after a treatment. Although each person may have a different experience during a Reiki session, typically people feel the relaxing, nurturing, soothing nature of the Reiki energy, and feel a deep sense of security and calm. This state of deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation and calm provides the ground on which recovery from all types of illnesses may occur. What people feel after a session After a session people often report feeling calm, rejuvenated, reduction in pain levels and clarity of mind. How many sessions are needed? To enjoy the calming benefits of Reiki, any number of sessions will suffice. Any time a person wishes to experience a deeper sense of calm and clarity and restored energy they can receive Reiki. When people want to balance deeper issues and achieve greater health, it is recommended to allow the Reiki energy to work with your system more frequently, with a series of sessions. The frequency will depend on individual needs and based on the severity of the condition and individual progress.
